The ODF South Cascade District protects all privately owned land in the the Eastern half of Lane County (basically east of Interstate 5), and the Eastern half of Linn County (basically east of Lebanon and Brownsville) from wildfire. This includes industrial forests, private forests, farms, residential properties, etc. (excluding properties in incorporated cities and their urban growth boundary). "Fire Season" was officially declared for all lands protected by the South Cascade District ODF on June 9th, 2025. "Fire season" is declared each year when conditions of wildfire hazard exist. Along with fire season comes a county-wide burn ban that is coordinated with the local fire departments.
"Regulated Use" (Public Use Restrictions) were put in place June 9th, 2025. ORS 477.535 to 477.550 authorizes the implementation of fire restrictions to all lands protected by the ODF South Cascade District, and all land within one-eighth mile of the protection boundary.
